Last Mintue Wedding Cake

I love making cakes.....lately I have been real busy getting new cake orders which of course makes me happy and makes my hubby grumpy, well, only for a little while because of course who could resist cake right??  Everyone loves cake.....me it is ice cream, but cake goes with that too!

My darling new sister-in-law called me up at of the blue and asked if I could do a cake for her.  I told her of course.  She told me it was just going to be a small celebration cake, however, the next thing I knew was we were talking and found out that her sister got married in 2009, but never had any wedding pictures taken.

So for their 5 year anniversary they wanted to get some wedding pictures taken!!!   I was all for that! So this is the cake that I made for this wonderful couple!

We used real flowers which is really unusual for me.  I love making everything on my cakes edible....sometimes I get a lot of flack over it, but it makes me giddy when a kid comes up to me and looks at my cakes and asks if they can try this or that.  Especially when I have made chocolate roses....they love eating the petals.  So for me, putting real flowers on the cake was a little hard, but I have to say it really turned out beautiful!

Alice In Wonderland Birthday Party

This is my cute little friend, Emmie....Her wonderful mother called and asked me if I could do this cake for her birthday.  This was a challenging cake as I had never done a Topsy Turvy cake before.  I think that it turned out AWESOME!!!!

I loved making all of the little flowers, mushrooms, and of course the little tea set.

I think that she really enjoyed her cake and I know the at the parents did because they all came up and told me how incredible it was.

I do like to hear that and once again, I felt like I blew my self out of the water with the skills that I have.  It was so much fun stepping out of my comfort zone and tackling this cake head on.

I had my son come with me to help deliver the cake.  I called him my "Cake Wing-man." He loves it.  When we are in the car together....he is the one that watches the cakes  on the turns and tells me that I need to slow down and also the most important part.....stop freak-en out!

I know with many of my cake deliveries, if I didn't have my little 'wing-man' I would be more of a basket case than I am sometimes.

This was one of the most fun cakes that I had done in a while and after taking some flower classes I felt very honored and special to be asked to do this cake for my special friend.  Thanks Emmie for letting me be a part of your special day!

Baby Shower Gender Neutral

I love making cakes.....Did I ever say that??  I think that I have....I also love having friends call me up and say, hey, I need a cake for a friend of mine.  That is so awesome!

Remember when you used to be little and we played games like red rover? When we all had to line up against the wall and wait to be picked for a team??  You know that feeling when you finally got picked??  And you were not the last one??  Yea, that is how I feel when someone chooses me to do a cake for them.  Kinda funny, but at the same time, extremely privileged.

Ok....enough of that....back to the fact that I was asked to do a baby shower cake.  This cute couple didn't want to know the gender of their cute little one to come so we decided to do a gender neutral cake.
We ended up doing a cute teddy bear cake that was a vanilla cake with a Swiss vanilla bean buttercream filling...it was so yummy and moist.

The cute teddy bears were made out of chocolate marshmallow fondant and the cake was covered in marshmallow fondant.
I had extra cake batter, so I made some extra cupcakes for this cute couple.

Mr. and Mrs. Terry Higgins

One day my mom came to me and asked me if I would be willing to do a wedding cake for her best teacher friend from school. She wanted to give the wedding cake to them as a wedding gift.  How could I refuse!
This would be my first wedding cake and I could be more excited to do it for my awesome friend and his new wife, Bertha.

This is how it turned out.  It was awesome.

It was a four tier cake that had two tiers with a white chocolate cake with blackberry filling, red velvet cake with cream cheese filling,  and a triple chocolate cake with chocolate cream cheese filling.

My sister was suppose to come down and help me, but was unable to get away in time, but she did the amazing chocolate roses.  The roses was made out of red modeling chocolate.  She did such an amazing job on all of them.  They looked and tasted wonderful.  I love having all edible items on my cakes, however, this cake has been the exception.  The ribbon was not edible and of course the topper, but everything else was.  It was so much fun to do.

I was so nervous doing the cake, but I think that it turned out beautiful and I believe that the couple loved it too!

I love seeing the bride and groom eating my cake.  It makes me so happy to share in their special day.  Everyone told me that it tasted wonderful and couldn't believe how beautiful it was.  Having compliments like this, make me want to make more cakes.  Love my job!

Lighting McQueen

There is nothing more that I love than my husband and my son.  For his 7th birthday, we took all of his little friends to see Cars 2.  Of course, he asked me if I could make him a Cars 2 cake of Lightening McQueen....having never attempted one before, I told him heck ya I can.  Anything for you buddy.  So this is what I ended up with.

I was really impressed with myself and really it was quite easy to make.  I had so much fun looking at his toy car and trying to really recreate it for him out of cake.  It was a yellow cake with chocolate cream cheese frosting....totally to die for.

Fast Forward to 2013
A couple of weeks ago, I was sitting with one of my friends and chatting and she pipes up saying that she wanted me to make a cake for her cute little son that was going to be turning 3....I told her that I would love to and asked what the theme was....She looked at me and said you pick out the cake and I will plan the party around the cake.  How is that for fun!!!

I told her that we must have to do a Lighting McQueen cake.  I wanted to do another one so this was perfect.  I was so excited about how it was turning out that I had to send her several pictures throughout the process.  The base.....

Getting closer........
And then finally the finished product.....I loved personalizing the cake just for our Little Micah.

When we finished singing happy birthday to him and cut into the cake he burst into tears saying...."not Lighting, not Lighting" It was totally cute..  he was also happy after a couple of bites of the Triple Chocolate Cake with Chocolate frosting.....It was such a fun birthday.  Thanks!

Open House

If anyone wants to know one thing about me it would be that I love parties.  I love hanging out with friends, catching up with family, and celebrating the small businesses of many stay home moms!  On January 25, 2014, I was able to partner up with Mary Kay, Pampered Chef and Norwex.  I supplied all the goodies for their customers to eat and was able to rock the house with wonderful ladies.
It was so much fun.  I will totally have to do another one soon.  We had awesome cupcakes.  They were Pumpkin Spice with Cream Cheese buttercream, Almond cake with Lime/Coconut buttercream, White Chocolate with Raspberry buttercream, and my new Reese's Pieces (Gluten-Free) cupcake.  We also had chocolate chip cookies there.

If you know of anyone that is having an open house and would love for me to cater...I would love to!

Wendy's Baconator

I had a friend ask me if I would be able to make a hamburger cake for her wedding anniversary.  Now that was a request that I had not had before, so of course, I had to say yes!!!  She then told me the story of their first date.  They had a date all planned out, but one of them had to work later than what they had planned so instead of canceling the date they ended up at Wendy's late at night.  Therefore, their first date was over Baconators.  How dang cute it that???
We had a Triple Chocolate cake with Chocolate Cream Cheese buttercream filling.  It was way yummy.  I covered some of the cake in marshmallow fondant and make the cheese and bacon strips out of fondant/gum paste. It was a super fun cake to make and also to stretch my abilities.  Thanks so much for the fun experience with this cake.
